Camera problems

In some cases camera problems may occur. The following page provides solutions to common problems.

 

Your camera could not be activated

Your camera was detected but cannot be activated by ooVoo. In most cases the camera is being used by another application.

 

Please check the following:

  1. Check if your camera is being used by another application. In this case you will need to close that application in order to activate your camera in ooVoo.
    In order to activate your camera, you will need to close the video conversation or video message window and reopen it again.
  2. If your camera is not being used by another application you may have a problem with your camera’s installation. In this case try to preview your camera in a different application.
  3. If you don’t see a preview, try re-installing your camera.

 

Your camera was not detected

Your camera was not detected. In most cases this is because your camera is not connected to your computer.

After solving the problem, you will need to close the video conversation or video message window and reopen it again in order to activate your camera.

 

Please check the following:

  1. Check that your camera is connected to your computer.
  2. If you have more than one camera, try selecting a different camera from the 'Settings' window.
  3. If the camera was installed and/or plugged in after starting ooVoo, sign-out from ooVoo and then sign-in again.
  4. Check if your camera is installed properly installed by trying to preview your camera in a different application. If you don’t see a preview, try re-installing your camera.
  5. If the problem was not solved, try replacing the camera.

 

You didn’t see a proper preview

Your camera was detected by ooVoo but you encountered a problem with the preview.

 

Please check the following:

  1. Check that your camera is connected to your computer.
  2. Check if your camera is installed properly installed by trying to preview your camera in a different application. If you don’t see a preview, try re-installing your camera.
  3. If there is a preview but the picture is of poor quality, try to adjust the focus and camera settings.
  4. If the problem was not solved, try replacing the camera.
