Search for ooVoo users

You can easily add ooVoo contacts to your contact list.

 

To add a contact:

  1. Click (or select 'Add new contacts' from the 'Contacts' menu) to find an ooVoo user and add him/her to your contact list. The 'Add new contacts' window appears.
  2. To do a basic search, type the person’s display name, ooVoo ID, or email address (his/her complete email address used when registering) in the search field.
    You can include part of the ooVoo ID or display name (such as the first 3 or more characters).

    Click . The list of ooVoo users are displayed.
    If there are a lot of users with the same characters entered in the search, then only the first 200 names will be displayed. In this case, it's recommended to perform an advanced search (go to the next step).

    Select a user.     The 'Add' and 'View card' buttons are enabled at the bottom of the window.
  3. To do an advanced search, enter at least 3 characters, click and select 'Advanced search options'. The advanced search fields appear. Select the desired fields such as their location, language, gender, age and interests. You can type the city and state in the given fields. Click . The results are displayed.
    For the 'City' and 'State' fields, you need to enter the same characters the user entered (so if the user entered 'New York' as 'NY', then you will need to enter 'NY').
  4. Select the desired user and click Add. The user's details appear. Click Add. The user appears in your contact list with a next to his/her name and receives a notification message to add you as a contact. Assuming that you are added to his/her contact list, you will be able to see when s/he is online ( appears next to online contacts).
    If the remains for a long period of time, you can right-click on the contact and select 'Resend a request to communicate' to send a new request to be added to his/her contact list.
  5. You can add more contacts from the 'Add new contacts' window, or click Close to close the window.
